Reclaim Your Power

Telling people who they "Should" be is judgemental, obnoxious, AND interferes with the natural order of life.

No matter the context, when people hear they "Should" Be something or do something differently... they energetically shut down.

If you want someone to do something or behave differently:

1. Tell them specifically and explicitly what you want to change and why.

2. Add context, and explain yourself so people understand your reasons.

3. Allow them the power of choice. Let them decide if they're going to change or move on.

We all want to be accepted and feel liked and valued.

Hearing we SHOULD be different undermines our sense of self and results in feeling unaccepted and not good enough.

More often than not, people are unaware of the power of semantics and how they phrase their words. They do not know the impact their words will have on someone.

Undoubtedly, at some point in your life, you have had people tell you who or how you "should be." We all have!

It is common for this language to become internalized and for your inner voice to tell you what and who you "should be."

Pay attention to your inner voice. How do you shame yourself? Where did you learn to talk to yourself like this? Whose words do you hear telling you how you "SHOULD BE"?

If you want to be or do something differently, take the steps to change.

But know this is because you WANT to change, and NOT because you SHOULD change.

You can continue to "should" all over yourself, but this self-talk is unkind.

Take your power back and honor who you ARE.

You do not have to limit yourself and be the version of you others think you should be.

Shed the layers of fear of rejection and shoulds.

Find the real you– your beautiful authentic self is waiting.
